My interest is in how our lifestyles, our state of consciousness and the state of the world we are in all connect.  I continually research this on a practical and intellectual level.  I have four wonderful children Bruce (20), Jazz (17), Bertie (8) and Lizzy (7).  Bertie, Lizzy and I having been eating almost all our food raw since summer 2001.  It has been a fascinating journey, opening up vistas of perception previously unimagined.  Bertie and Lizzy are out of school and television for that matter too.  We spend as much time as we can in nature and at home and interacting with positive activities in the community. I currently live in Totnes, Devon, UK.

Bio:

I was born on 16th May 1963. I grew up in Nottingham, England.  My mother was very dedicated to us and as a child i was encouraged to fill my time with creative pursuits rather than stare at ‘the box’ .  I was quite dreamy and ‘in a world of my own’.  My father who was a physics lecturer loved to talk to me about the nature of the universe.  I was intrigued by our human experience and wanted to understand what was going on in the brain.  I was also fascinated by and loved plants.  From a young age I had a desire to eat as healthily as I knew how.   In my late teens I had a political phase, joined CND, and went on peace marches.

At 18 I went off to York University to study physics and do a fair amount of drinking then, after graduating with an upper second B.Sc honours degree worked in marketing for IBM for two years. I valued the experience but it wasn’t really the life for me and after a couple of years I married and went to live in Japan where i had my first child, Bruce.  I taught English as a foreign language at this time too, with baby ‘in tow’. Having a baby was an eye-opening experience for me - it really hit home how human needs weren’t met by industrial society.  A ’natural’ and close style of mothering was what Bruce thrived on.

On returning to the UK I immersed myself in ecology, growing my own veg in my garden in rural Essex and was involved with the Green Party for a couple of years.   I had my second child, Jasmine.  I trained as a breastfeeding counsellor with La Leche League.  At this time I also became interested in and studied astrology. 

In in the early nineties I started to have a fundamental change in the way I saw and thought about things. Lots about me and what I thought was important was redundant and went.  The experience was very difficult at times but life became so much better as a result of what I went through -  I have felt  like a different person in many respects since then. I became increasingly interested in esoteric matters and began to spend a lot of time meditating in nature in between looking after the children and working.

In 1997  I moved to Totnes with Jasmine whilst Bruce moved to Woking with his Dad.  I did a shamanic course and a diploma in hypnotherapy.  I met the father of my youngest two children, Bertie and Lizzy, and began to understand the connection between consciousness and nutrition.  Since 1998 I had been eating about half my food raw.  In 2001 we started to eat all our food raw and began a raw catering business together.  I soon began holding workshops in raw food preparation and events. 

Raw was not all plain sailing and it was not until I met Tish Clifford in 2004 that i felt that i had all the pieces of the puzzle that i needed to make a completely raw diet work sustainably, happily and easily, stably and healthily, long term - with young, growing children.   I wanted to do this because of how much better i feel and how much deeper an experience of life i have when i eat all my food raw - and how much happier and healthier the children are.  The information she shared with me about the human condition and the consciousness research  of Tony Wright, made things clearer for me than they had ever been before. During this time life was becoming increasingly an energetic experience and less a thought defined perception of reality.

In 2005 I met Rob Hull (of Funky Raw) who is exceptionally dedicated to getting useful information out to as many people as possible and who has been immeasurably supportive.  Also in this year i met and felt an immediate connection with Kate Wood who has shown me the immense value of an increasing number of superfoods and become an increasingly close and dearly loved friend.

In autumn 2006, after a summer of unravelling more of my mental belief systems and increasing my understanding of the energetics of this world (with the help of an ‘eating raw food, staying awake, taking ayahuasca retreat’ that I held), I set up www.oceanwavevibrations.com selling products I find particularly helpful.  I increasingly want to share information and ideas which may help us raise our energy and create the best possible experience we can.

Update Spring 2008, Jasmine is nearly all raw and has joined Oceanwavevibrations and i am getting together publications with much needed info on raw food,  consciousness and children - our DVD ‘Raw Generation’ is now available.
